Accessibility Statement

We want this store to be usable by as many people as possible, including people using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, screen magnification or reduced-motion settings.

What we are aiming for

Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We are not claiming full conformance. This site is a work in progress and we would rather tell you that than put a badge on the footer and hope nobody checks.

What we have done so far

  • Built on an official Shopify theme with accessible markup as its starting point
  • Text and background colors chosen to meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio for body text
  • Visible focus outlines on links, buttons and form fields, so keyboard users can see where they are
  • Headings used in order, so screen-reader users can navigate by structure
  • Touch targets sized for use on a phone with one thumb
  • Motion kept minimal, and reduced where the browser requests reduced motion
  • Alternative text written for images that carry information, rather than left blank or stuffed with keywords

Known limitations

  • Some pages use third-party components — payment, checkout and any embedded content — which we do not fully control. We test them but we cannot fix them ourselves.
  • Product images supplied by manufacturers sometimes contain text inside the image. Where that happens we repeat the information as real text on the page.
  • We have not yet completed a full audit with assistive technology across every page and every browser.

Tell us if something does not work

If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, email everhausco@gmail.com and describe what happened, which page it was on and what you were using — browser, device and any assistive software. We will reply, and if we can fix it we will.

If you cannot complete an order because of an accessibility problem, say so in the email and we will take the order through by email instead.
